MSTP Faculty Receives NIH Director’s New Innovator Awards
Deeptankar DeMazumder, MD, PhD, assistant professor, Department of Internal Medicine was awarded a 2020 Director’s New Innovator Awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The award recognizes “highly innovative and unusually impactful biomedical or behavioral research proposed by extraordinarily creative scientists,” the NIH said.
Dr. DeMazumder will receive a five-year $2.3 million for his project “Eavesdropping on Heart-Brain Conversations During Sleep for Early Detection and Prevention of Fatal Cardiovascular Disease.” The study is a novel approach for studying heart-brain interactions during sleep.
