Pediatric Urology Fellowship
The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Department of Surgical Services, Division of Pediatric Urology, sponsors the Pediatric Urology Fellowship program. This fellowship program covers a full complement of pediatric urologic issues with particular attention to the areas of genitourinary reconstructive surgery (including microsurgical techniques), laparoscopic and robotic assisted surgery, uro-oncology and fetal urology.
The majority of the fellowship related clinical activity takes place at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The program has one or two fellows (we accept one fellow each year) for the duration of two years.
The two year, ACGME accredited fellowship has three rotations (inpatient, outpatient, research):
1. Chief Fellow of main campus inpatient team (managing residents and APN’s/PA’s) and participating in surgical cases in the base operating room.
2. Research Fellow either in clinical outcomes research/quality improvement or in the basic science laboratory of Dr. Pramod Reddy.
3. Administrative Fellow participating in base outpatient clinics (including multi-disciplinary continuity clinics such as Complex Reconstruction, Spina Bifida, Stone Center, Disorders of Sexual Differentiation, Fetal Care, Adult Transition) and having the opportunity to do outpatient procedures at the Liberty campus operating room.
The fellowship has a comprehensive didactic teaching schedule that includes:
Conferences
- Monthly Morbidity and Mortality conference.
- Monthly Journal Club with special emphasis on EBM/reviewing the literature.
- Monthly Grand Rounds (with faculty or outside speakers).
- Monthly combined Uro-Radiology conferences.
- Monthly multi-disciplinary conferences with the Disorders of Sex Development, Colorectal/Gynecology and End Stage Renal Disease teams.
- Combined lectures with the University of Cincinnati Urology Residency Program.
- Weekly Solid Tumor Board and Sarcoma Tumor Board conferences.
- Clinical Indications Conference (weekly, fellow directed).
- Pediatric Urology Topic Review (bi-weekly, fellow directed).
- Urology Basic Science Review (bi-weekly).
- Clinical Case Management Conference (monthly).
- Complex Center Conference (monthly).
- Combined
Complex Urology/Colorectal Center Conference (monthly).

How To Apply
We accept applications from residents in the fourth year of their postgraduate training in an accredited urology program. The Division of Urology at Cincinnati Children’s participates in the fellowship match conducted by the Society of Pediatric Urology (SPU); applicants should download and complete the SPU’s universal application form.
The Urology Fellowship application deadline is February, with candidate interviews conducted shortly thereafter.
