Clinical Training
The Cardiovascular Disease fellowship training
program's curriculum is based on the 2015 ACC Revised Recommendations for Training in Adult Cardiovascular Medicine Core Cardiology Training III (COCATS IV).
Fellows rotate on a variety of inpatient services as well as invasive and non-invasive procedure laboratories over a 36-month period. All fellows will achieve the level I certifications outlined in COCATS IV, including cardiac echocardiography level
II based on competency. Most fellows should also be able to achieve level II certification in cardiac catheterization, and nuclear cardiology. However, fellows have the option to pursue other interests in lieu of level II certification, if desired
(e.g. more advanced training in echocardiography/imaging, electrophysiology (Pacemakers) or a dedicated research block).Fellowship training occurs over the course of three years.
Training is conducted in compliance with the July 2020 revised Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Cardiovascular Disease program requirements for general fellowship education in the subspecialties of internal medicine and the specific requirements for fellowship education in cardiovascular diseases.
An additional year(s) of training are required for certification in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Cardiac Imaging.

The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program training
