Field Course Work by ERC Students
The 1st year industrial hygiene students and an occupational nursing student visited Formica on 9/19/16 as part of the “Identification of Workplace Hazards” class led by Dr. Andy Maier. Students toured the facility with plant EH&S professionals to learn about laminate surface coating processes and health and safety information/issues, including ventilation controls, PPE, and potential exposures. A student and faculty member from the the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology also joined the UC students on the tour. Students have several additional site visits scheduled this semester to various industries in the Cincinnati area.Full story -
ERC Visit to Industrial Indiana Field Trip
Seven students and one faculty member went on a two-day field trip to Industrial Indiana. Student participants were from University of Cincinnati’s (UC) industrial hygiene and occupational medicine residency programs. On Thursday, 08/18/2016, the group left UC by coach bus and visited Purdue University’s Birck Nanotechnology Center. On Friday, 08/19/2016, the group visited the Meadow Lake Wind Farm, BioTownAg Anaerobic Digester, and Liberty Landfill.Full story -
UC ERC Participated in the 2016 NY/NJ Historic Tour
June 5th to 9th 2016, Bingbing Wu, Nancy Ngoc Giao Ly and Kelechi Isiugo represented students from the University of Cincinnati industrial hygiene and occupational medicine program at the New York New Jersey Historical Perspectives on Occupational Safety and Health tour. The tour began at Piscataway, New Jersey, with a bus conveying graduate students of industrial hygiene, ergonomics, safety engineering and residents of occupational medicine from different universities.Full story -
