The Community Outreach and Engagement Core (COEC), part of the Center for Environmental Genetics housed in the Department of Environmental Health, received the Business Roll Honor Award from the Ohio School Boards Association. The COEC worked with 30 educators across seven school districts in Eastern Ohio to provide water testing kits for science classes. Rolling Hills Local Schools in Byesville, Ohio, nominated the COEC for the Business Roll Honor Award, which was accepted by Erin Haynes, DrPh, and Rachel Shepler. The teachers worked with students to develop a water testing protocol using the kits, which Haynes plans to use in future water testing research.
